Why Blockchain Games
A game should be fun, offer an immersive gaming experience, and sustain long-term motivation from a gamer’s perspective. Immerse yourself in new worlds, slip into one of many roles in the metaverse and achieve great things with other players. Blockchain is not a necessary prerequisite for a great gaming experience.
Or in other words:
“Gaming doesn’t need blockchain to be a success, however, blockchain could highly profit from gaming and gamers, to speeding up mass adaptation!”

In recent months, various hyped blockchain games have been released, many in the NFT space. However, if you extract the play-to-earn component, there isn’t much left in terms of game concepts, as many are based on rudimentary functions and logic. With play to earn, the player has the opportunity to earn valuable digital content, often in the form of a non-fungible token (NFT), or even to receive cryptocurrencies directly.
In many of the well-known triple-a games, the player invests a lot of time and money to get the coveted Legendary Items. The players’ investment lies idle here and he only gets something out of it when he plays the game. Except for fun and at most fame and glory, there is no return on his investment. Of course, there are grey markets for items and game accounts, but using them is always involved with a big risk that can in the end lead to the account being banned or terminated.
The vision of Ajuna Network is,
that every Gamer should be able to profit from his invested time, money and should be the owner of his assets.
In many games, the assets do not belong to the player and are managed by the developer on a centralized server. The game companies can take away accounts from gamers, whether justified or not. Thus, the player loses all his achievements, partly temporarily, but permanently in case of serious violations. This illustrates, that the player is not the owner of his items, which, depending on their purchases and financial situation can lead to drastic losses.

And yet, with the gamification of the blockchain, there will soon be a multitude of innovative games that take advantage of the huge potential of this technology. There will be radically new game concepts that we can hardly imagine today.

With previous PoW blockchains, a block time of over 2 minutes was not uncommon. These 2 minutes had to be bridged somehow in the games, which usually had a negative impact on game flow. The new blockchain generations allow for full-fledged, responsive blockchain-based games for the first time.
