PolyCrypt and Ajuna break down gaming barriers with app channel design

Zurich, June 2022 — A joint Web3 Foundation grant proposal from gaming pioneer Ajuna Network and decentralized software specialist PolyCrypt seeks to solve latency issues in blockchain games.
The Ajuna platform offers developers a way to build decentralized games using the powerful engines Unity and Unreal. This bridges the gap between blockchain and mainstream gaming, but to compete with AAA titles, latency must be addressed. Only by eliminating the blockchain processing lag will developers be free to create truly sophisticated, exciting games that are not limited to turn-based actions.
Ajuna already uses PolyCrypt’s Perun state channels to pursue this goal; processing gameplay off-chain offers a big improvement in scalability. The new proposal goes even further. The programmable “app channels” can support more complex activity, with a transaction logic defined at channel opening.
